OdooHub Mobile (formerly Odoo Messenger API) is the backend module for our Android and iOS app that turns an Odoo 18 or 19 server into a mobile workspace. Staff get team chat, audio and video calls, push notifications and live dashboards for HR, attendance, projects, CRM, sales, expenses and purchase, all from their own Odoo data.

What the app does

  • Chat: channels and direct messages with replies, reactions, pinned messages and voice notes.
  • Calls: peer-to-peer audio and video with lock-screen ringing.
  • Dashboards: summaries for HR, attendance, projects, CRM, sales, expenses and purchase.
  • Files: photos, videos and documents saved as normal Odoo attachments.
  • HR: leave balances, public holidays and 30 days of attendance history.
  • Security: biometric app lock, Odoo session login and access rights checked on every endpoint.

Installation

  1. Copy the module to your custom addons folder.
  2. Install the Python package with pip install firebase-admin.
  3. Restart Odoo and install the app from Apps.
  4. Open the mobile app and sign in with your Odoo URL and login.

Setting up audio and video calls

The module handles call signalling, but calls between different networks also need a TURN server to relay audio and video.

If you host Odoo on your own server

  1. Install coturn (sudo apt install coturn) and enable it in /etc/default/coturn.
  2. In /etc/turnserver.conf set the listening ports (3478 and 5349), your public IP, a realm and a strong username and password.
  3. Open TCP/UDP 3478 and 5349 and UDP 49152-65535 in the server firewall and in your cloud provider's firewall.
  4. Test with the WebRTC Trickle ICE page. A relay candidate means TURN works.
  5. In Odoo, add a STUN and a TURN entry under Settings > Technical > Discuss > ICE Servers.

If you use Odoo.sh

Odoo.sh does not allow coturn or open UDP ports. Rent a small VPS just for coturn, or use a managed TURN service, and add its details to the ICE Servers list.

A "Code 701: allocate request timed out" error during testing almost always means the cloud provider's firewall is blocking the UDP media ports.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use it on Odoo Online?

No. It needs a server where you can install custom modules and Python packages.

Want Odoo on your team's phones?

I can install the backend, set up the TURN server and get your first call working.
