Garment Manufacturing & Planning is an Odoo 19 Enterprise module I built for knitwear exporters and RMG factories. From a confirmed buyer's order it plans every stage, from buying yarn and subcontracting knitting and dyeing, through cutting and production, to numbered export cartons, and turns each step into a standard Odoo purchase, subcontract, manufacturing or delivery document so stock and accounts always match the plan.

Why garment factories struggle with standard ERP
A knit garment order is many jobs: yarn bought by the kilo, fabric knitted by one subcontractor, dyed by a mill, cut by colour and size, sewn, sometimes embroidered, packed into cartons and shipped against a letter of credit. Each step has its own losses. Most ERP add-ons stop at a colour-size grid; the rest lives in spreadsheets.

What happens when you confirm an order
- A Garment Plan with a stage strip showing what is done, in progress or waiting, and the delay in days.
- One draft production order per colour and size, held until the recipe is approved.
- An order project with 13 Time & Action activities, dated on working days.
- An analytic account, so every cost lands on the order and profit per order is real.
The eight stages
- Yarn: requirement by count and yield, bags rounded up, only the shortfall bought, per spinner.
- Knitting: in-house or subcontracted, with yarn sent and fabric returned tracked.
- Dyeing: per colour, only against an approved lab dip, with losses per mill.
- Cutting: colour by size with good, excess and rejected pieces; actual fabric posted to production.
- Final BOM: fabric and accessories costed per piece and per dozen, with eight counting methods for trims.
- Embroidery and printing: optional, sent to a vendor and costed to the order.
- Production: standard manufacturing and work orders with nine quality checkpoints.
- Packing and export: numbered cartons, weights, volume and an export packing list on the delivery.

Material accountability
Yarn bags are weighed against the spinner's standard weight and fabric rolls are checked for weight, GSM, width, shrinkage and shade. Differences become numbers you can claim instead of arguments at the gate. Rejected goods go to rework, downgrade, scrap or return, each with a real stock document.
Reports and paperwork
Production tracking, vendor performance, wastage (allowed against actual), BOM cost and more, each exportable to Excel. Seventeen PDF layouts cover the garment plan, Time & Action schedule, cutting reconciliation, cost sheet, export packing list and management summary.

Setup
Installing the module switches on the needed Odoo features and creates attributes, work centres, quality points, the Time & Action template and 13 user roles. Loss percentages, consumption and accessory rules are master data, not code. Eight Excel templates load master data, and a demo-data wizard creates realistic orders for training.
Frequently asked questions
Is this standard Odoo or a separate system?
Standard Odoo 19 Enterprise plus this module. Purchasing, subcontracting, manufacturing, quality and accounting all use Odoo's own apps.
Does it work on Odoo Online?
No. Use Odoo.sh or your own server. It needs Enterprise because it uses the Project, Quality and cost-analysis apps.
Is it tied to Bangladesh?
No. No country, currency or tax is built in. Export orders carry country, shipment and letter-of-credit references.
We don't embroider and buy some fabric. Is that a problem?
No. Stages an order does not use are skipped, and knitting can be in-house, subcontracted or replaced by buying fabric.
Running a garment factory?
Message me directly. I built the module and can walk you through one order from sales order to invoice.
