With Dot BD Solutions, I helped run a hands-on seminar on digital commerce and business automation at the As-Sunnah Skill Development Institute in Dhaka, a training initiative of the As-Sunnah Foundation. Participants built their own online store on Odoo during the session, added products, placed test orders and learned how to track marketing results, without any coding.

Why this workshop
The institute trains people in skills such as small business management, fashion design and cooking. The next question for many of them is how to sell what they make. Our goal was to show that a professional online store is within reach without a big budget or programming.
What participants learned
1. Building a store in minutes
Using Odoo's AI-assisted website builder, each participant created a working website in under 15 minutes: choosing goals, applying a theme and adding their own branding and team pages.
2. Products and categories
Adding products such as clothing or food, setting sale and cost prices, writing clear product descriptions and organising categories so customers find things easily.
3. The full sales cycle
From a customer clicking Add to Cart, to order confirmation, invoices with down payments and cash on delivery, which most Bangladeshi online buyers still use.
4. Marketing and tracking
Adding the Meta (Facebook) Pixel and Google Analytics to measure visitors and run targeted campaigns.
The best moment
At the end, participants scanned QR codes and placed test orders on the stores they had just built. Several realised that building websites for local businesses could itself become a source of income.
Thank you to the As-Sunnah Foundation and the institute's team for hosting us.
